The Brand: Yahoo Travel
The Brief: As part of a major shift in its brand direction, Yahoo set out to reinvent its travel section from a transactional booking site into a digital magazine. Recognizing Laura Begley Bloom’s strengths as a cross-platform editor, the company brought her on as executive editor to lead the relaunch.
In this role, Laura oversaw the transformation of Yahoo Travel into a dynamic content platform, managing a daily editorial lineup of 15 to 20 stories spanning original features, breaking news, video, and user-generated content. She built a global network of more than 300 writers and correspondents, collaborated with marketing to develop revenue-generating campaigns, and represented the brand on television.
Following the success of the relaunch, Laura was promoted to editor-in-chief, where she led content strategy, managed a team of editors, and partnered with teams across the company to drive audience growth and expand revenue opportunities.
The Results: Under Laura’s leadership, Yahoo Travel became the world’s most-read travel magazine, reaching 14 million unique users per month and establishing itself as a leading voice in digital travel media. The North American Travel Journalists Association awarded Yahoo Travel the gold medal for top online travel magazine under Laura’s leadership.
